Boojy is a solo project built by Tyr. I care about your privacy and want to be clear about what data is collected.
In short
- Your notes and projects stay on your computer
- No accounts, no ads, and I never sell or share your data
- Crash reports in Audio are only sent if you opt in
Website
boojy.org counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and doesn't track you across sites or build a profile of you. There are no accounts and no ads.
Boojy Audio
Local storage
All projects and settings are stored on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud.
Crash reports (opt-in)
You can choose to send anonymous crash reports. They include the error and where it happened, and your OS and app version. They never include personal data, project files or audio. You choose on first launch.
Update checker
The app can check for updates. This only sends your current version, to see if a newer one exists.
Boojy Notes
Your notes
Notes are plain files in a folder you choose on your device. Nothing is sent to Boojy. The app also keeps a few things on your computer, outside that folder: earlier versions of your notes, notes you've deleted (for 30 days) and your settings. You can turn version history off for any note in its ··· menu, and delete what it kept. If a cloud service you use syncs your notes folder, that service's own privacy policy applies.
Update checker
Notes checks for new versions and installs them automatically. It asks GitHub, where the releases live, so GitHub sees your IP address and app version. You can turn this off in Settings → Updates.
Spell checking
On a Mac, macOS checks your spelling itself. On Windows and Linux, the app downloads its word lists from Google the first time it needs them, so Google sees your IP address then. You can turn spell checking off in Settings.
Pictures from the web
If a note shows a picture linked from a website, the app loads it from that site, like a browser would. That site sees your IP address.
The web version
notes.boojy.org runs a test version of the app. Notes you write there stay in your browser on that device and are never sent to Boojy.
Your rights (GDPR)
You can ask for a copy of any data I hold about you, or ask me to delete it. Email tyr@boojy.org.
Data sharing
I don't sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone.
Changes to this policy
If Boojy ever collects more data, for example if accounts or cloud sync are added, I'll update this page before that happens.
